IT’S A BIG PROBLEM THAT’S ONLY GROWING
Acne is the most common skincare issue today and it is only growing. It’s estimated that around 90% of the world’s population is affected by acne at some point in their life.
WOMEN SUFFER THE MOST
Adult acne is most common in women and it is increasing at a fast pace. This increase is mainly due to both stress and hormonal imbalance resulting from; PCOS, endometriosis, the contraceptive pill, pregnancy and menopause.
IT’S NOT JUST PHYSICAL
95% of acne sufferers say it impacts their daily lives and 63% experience lower self confidence. Over a third of people self-harm or have considered it because of their acne, and it can be a contributing factor in depression and even suicide.
33% OF ACNE DERMATOLOGIST VISITS WERE MADE BY WOMEN OVER 25
Surveys conducted show that almost twice as many women seek advice about acne than men, and that a third of total acne office visits are made by women over 25.
41% OF WOMEN SURVEYED REPORTED HAVING ADULT ACNE
In a survey of 3,305 women ages 25-40 in France found that adult onset acne was reported by 41% of women. Stress was listed as a precipitating factor for acne in half of the women surveyed.
YET INNOVATION IN THE TREATMENT OF ADULT ACNE IN WOMEN HAS BEEN STAGNANT FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS
Mainstream acne treatments have seen very little progress over the last 20 years, and the ones commonly available are not designed for adult women. We know that a woman in her thirties requires a different type of acne treatment than one who is in her teens. The causes are different and their skin requirements outside of acne are different. That is why we created rå oils - because we know this first hand and that is why we treat it differently.
